/zɐˈbor/
Across the former Eastern Bloc, these walls are a ubiquitous part of the urban landscape. Installed millions of times, they have become virtually invisible, insignificant components of municipal infrastructure. Their distinctive diamond pattern and square shape serve functional purposes: dampening noise and enabling self-cleaning. Depending on location and environmental conditions, the concrete’s graphic texture creates its own spectrum of contrasts and color gradients. That, however, does not make them unique.
/zɐˈbor/ is a playful aesthetic examination of the plastic and symbolic dimensions of this standardised object.
