Anastasiia Batishcheva is a visual artist currently based in Munich. Her academic background originates in classical painting education in Ukraine, which later expanded into lens-based practice during her studies in Germany. This shift enabled her to develop a critical distance to reflect on the ideological legacies of Eastern European cultural heritage, as well as the broader apparatus of image-production within global visual economies.

In her artistic practice, she investigates cultural policy and its monumental embodiments in architecture and fine arts. Drawing on archival materials, found footage, and her own artistic research, she examines how political narratives are constructed and sustained through visual culture, while simultaneously creating her alternative perspectives. Although photography often serves as the entry point to her research, it rarely functions as the final result. Anastasiia’s projects frequently evolve into digital montages, investigative research formats, and spatial installations. Anastasiia Batishcheva is a member of Institution of Unstable Thoughts.
